We are a group of people interested in all forms of fiber arts.
We love to learn, to teach and promote these art forms.
This group was formed in 1976 by a few women who were interested in textiles. This was the year of America’s Bicentennial. There was a cultural emphasis on the nation’s beginnings and an embrace of the “old ways.” These women shared a deep appreciation for the creativity offered by the fiber arts and were interested in sharing that interest with others.
What started as a group of friends mostly interested in spinning and weaving has grown to include every type of fiber arts imaginable. We have held style shows, retreats, workshops and even hosted some conferences. In the last couple of years, we started what we call “focus groups.” These are smaller groups of people who gather to share and learn more about a specific technique or type of fiber art such as weaving, knitting, natural dyeing and so much more.
We generally meet the 3rd Wednesday of the month, at 1:00 p.m., at the People’s Energy Coop, 1775 Lake Shady Ave S, Oronoco, MN, with a social hour starting at Noon.
In August we have a pot-luck picnic and workshop at a park. Our meetings include a speaker presentation and show and tell. We share what we have been making. We encourage each other, share ideas and leave inspired and energized to create more. You will find updated information about the next meeting on our front page.
We welcome all like-minded people to join us!
