Celebrating our 50th Anniversary!
Sigma Xi Lecture, Tuesday, April 15 – We will partner with Sigma Xi for a lecture in Leighton Hall on the Mayo Clinic Campus, 100 2nd St SW, Rochester, Minnesota at 7:30 pm followed by Q and A. “Fiber Arts – Better Health at our Fingertips” will feature Dr. Scott Breitinger, Dr. Julia Joseph-Di Caprio and Kathryn McAlister, Art Therapist and fiber artist. Marcia Krieger will moderate the panel. Come and learn. It is free and open to the public and we encourage you to invite friends and family. They may learn a bit more about what you are getting out of fiber arts!
Our next guild meeting will be April 16 at People’s Energy Cooperative, 1775 Lake Shady Ave S, Oronoco, MN 55960, from noon to 4:00pm. Our speaker will be Liz Bucheit of Lanesboro. She will be speaking over Zoom. Her talk will be Silver Threads: Exploring Norwegian Sámi Silver.
Our May guild meeting will be Wednesday, May 21 at People’s Energy Cooperative, 1775 Lake Shady Ave S, Oronoco, MN 55960, from noon to 4:00pm. Our speaker will be Carolyn Barsness. She will be doing a program on felting. Then in June, Nick Buffalo from Global Mamas-Minneapolis will give the program.
The Zumbro River Fiber Arts Guild is celebrating 50 years of sharing the love for fiber, building skills to further our capacity for personal expression, and exploring creative ideas together.
During the coming year we will have two different displays at the Rochester Art Center, demonstrations and rotating exhibits at the Rochester History Center, and a special display at the Minneapolis Textile Center. There will be traveling exhibits, a color challenge for the guild members, special classes and demonstrations. A gala event at the Rochester International Event Center will top off our celebration. Our Members Tea Party was a lovely way to kick off our celebration year. The party started with amazing food provided by many of the members. The program was put on by the members showing off some of their favorite fiber art projects from past years. Take a look here!
ZRFAG members go all out at the Rochester Quilter’s Sew-ciety show. This bi-annual show was held October 9-10, 2024. While most quilts were in the shared section of the show, some members brought home ribbons. Over 200 quilts were shown, See all their pictures here.
